First Stop-Second Chance

First Stop

HEBREWS 13: 1. Keep on loving each other as brothers. 2. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. 3. Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. (NIV)

FACT: More than two million people are in America’s jails, and nearly four and a half million on parole. It’s estimated that two-thirds of those discharged from prison will return to prison within three years. More than 600,000 persons will be discharged from prisons this year. In Alabama approximately 11,000 persons are released annually.

"Ten Reasons Why Ex-Offenders Return to Prison"

And what to do about it...

First Stop-Second Chance was founded to assist the previously incarcerated person make a successful reentry, resettlement, reintegration, and recovery into the community using its Evidence Based, Total Integrated PIP System or TIPS and a transition network of certified service providers.

First Stop-Second Chance is a 501 (c) 3 Foundation headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama which provides a holistic, life course altering Transition Action Plans [TAP] for previously incarcerated persons through the matching, managing, and monitoring of local support services and organizations to ensure effective and efficient reentry programs. The TAP is employment-oriented, self-sustaining, and focused on reducing the occurrence of crime and criminal recidivism.

Further, the First Stop-Second Chance Foundation does not provide actual reentry services at this time, but exclusively exists to provide an integrated approach for previously incarcerated persons to reenter and transition into communities as productive citizens. This is routinely achieved using a unique dedicated software program to generate individual Transition Action Plans using existing reentry service providers and networks to ensure a well planned and coordinated process.
